I have been an agnostic or atheist since my early teenage years, but for 20 years I found your religion a good one, simply because the members (lots of family and friends in) were good and nice people. My view took an 180 degree turn when I started researching, rather deeply, your religion, the history of Christianity, history of Christianity in the U.S., ancient history in the near East, Judaism. I concluded that any form of Christianity is utter bullshit, ranging from mild cults like the Catholics to the most extreme, high control and dangerous cults of death like the JW's. If you still believe in the Bible, then critically read the best books, Ecclesiastes and Job. They will bring some light into reality and help you to make better decisions. Today my favorite pass time is studying the Bible from an academic point of view. Much, much better than studying it under a control a cult.

Just curious about how faithful women are these days. Anybody know?
by Alostpuppydog inso being someone who is not, however still believes around 70% of what the jw's talk about as far as the bible goes, ignoring the fact of no blood transfusions, shunning, etc.
wt doctrines, i got this question.
anybody really know how faithful 'worldly' (i use this term lightly 😉) women are these days?

Being religious is quite secondary. Faithfulness mostly depends how good you are to make her happy.

Honest Questions About Child Abuse
by Richard Oliver ini have two honest questions for everyone here.
i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.

That is 1 per 60. If you have kids, and you are in a congregation of 120 publishers, you are exposing your kids continuously to 2 child abusers. Do you know them... or did the society not bother to inform you... good luck
Your calculations have to take into account that the 1006 cases happened over a period of more than 60 years. So your children have to remain children for 60 years and be regular JW's. It's not gonna work.
The situation is very bad as it is, but 2 child abusers per congregation at any given time is a gross exaggeration.

Congratulations! Have a happy new life!
Your son is quite lucky. Not only do you know how bad it could have been, but also you appreciate this new freedom better than most of us (never in a cult people), who take it for granted, and therefore fail to make the best of it.

The God of The Bible Must be Stupid
by AnonVet ini don't mean to be blasphemous to the real god.
i just don't think the god of the bible is our actual god.
and i think the god of the bible is not very bright.. i was thinking about the flood the other day.

A history of global living conditions in 5 charts
by Simon ingreat article with charts showing how the world is getting better, despite the attempts of the news and certain religious groups to say it ain't so (or try and make it not).. https://ourworldindata.org/a-history-of-global-living-conditions-in-5-charts/.

All the good reflected by those charts is a credit to God Almighty!!... well, Watchtower too. The system of Satan, including most people in this thread, has prevented the graphs to be much better than they are.

Watchtower April, 2017 Overview
by Listener ini'll start with the first study article.. this study article deals with vows made to jehovah.
three main vows are discussed.. 1) your dedication to jehovah.
we are told that it is not possible to claim that our baptism was not valid .

First, humility will move us to acknowledge that we do not have all the facts. No matter how much we know of a situation, only Jehovah can read a person’s figurative heart.
Tell that to the 3 elders in your judicial committee.

Is account of Ananias & Sapphira genuine?
by anointed1 in1) ananias “sold a piece of property… and kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.” (acts 5:1, 2) peter interpreted the whole incident as unbecoming of believers as they created the impression that they are giving full amount received from the sale of their property, and told the wife of ananias: “the feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” (acts 5:9).
death sentence for slightly exaggerating one’s generosity?.
2) in this incident, peter seems to be over-righteous!

Just as genuine as the birth from a virgin and the resurrection to heavenly existence.

Poopie,
What they mean is:
They (Watchtower) have the power to dump you, but you don't have the power to dump them.
